The most ridiculous sh*t in the world is totally possible to not only dream, but to live through and actually live WITHIN that same dream.
Whatever that dream is.
I made this little graphic tonight, because as I’m going through a lot of recent photos from Easter weekend…it came up via the skilled photocrafts of Catherine Du Boisand immediately reminded me of a photo I took of a little girl, dressed as a bunny. She was one of the smaller pARTicipants at Burning Man Decompression here in SF, 3 years ago. In the prior 12 months, I used that photo with this quote from Shel Silverstein:
“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
And really, this little piece of inspiration that came to me is the entire story of mine and Cat’s lives so far.
Anything can be.
All we’ve ever really wanted was to live out a love story.
The happily ever after.
The tale of all tales.
I’m quite sure that EVERYONE has the same innate dream, at least once. Usually it starts when you’re a child, playing out that scenario in any and every way you can, given the tools at hand.
Could be rocks and sticks and ROARS!
….could be capes and climbing trees and jumping down victoriously.
And then onto happily ever after.
To live out a mythic adventure.
I can tell you from under a pink bunneh’ hat just one thing:
Dreams come true over time. It’s the persistence of your belief in yourself AND that dream that combine to make magic happen. Make doors open. Make everything you’ll need to LIVE that dream fall “magically” into place. Persistence, “faith”, hope and really, love. Love of yourself from a place so deep and core that if you gave it up…you’d be nothing. Done.
A dream so real and palpable that you wake up wondering if you’re still asleep when the pieces start falling into place.
That dream can take you to new places far beyond where your “I’m-just-being-realistic” mind would allow.
Remember what it was like to be a child again?
Then remember that you CAN open those doors to a world of YOUR imagination. Where that takes YOU is where the dreaming begins.
Only now you’re AWAKE
